JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) –Zimbabwe Platinum Mines (Zimplats) this week lodged an objection against the Zimbabwean government’s intention to compulsorily acquire 50% of the Impala Platinum (Implats) subsidiary’s mining claims.

The government, which gazetted its aims in a Government Gazette Extraordinary on March 1, planned to use the 27 948 ha of land for the “benefit of the public”.

Implats said in a statement on Thursday that it would keep shareholders informed of developments.
