Started in 2005, South African heavy-duty equipment manufacturer, supplier and importer Wuhlf Equipment has supplied more than 2 000 pieces of equipment over the years.

The company operates from its facility in Wallmansthal, Pretoria, where it will manufacture its recently launched 70 kW Skerpioen tractor loader backhoe (TLB), which offers businesses in Africa an affordable, low-tech solution that is robust enough to withstand the harsh operating environment synonymous with the continent.

The company moved to Wallmansthal from Montana, also in Pretoria, about six months ago, doubling its workshop space, with Wuhlf director Johan Grobler noting that there is potential to again double the workshop’s capacity at the new premises.

Besides TLBs, the company supplies front-end loaders, mulchers, forklifts and attachments.

Wuhlf mostly services the agriculture sector, with 80% of its sales a mixture of referrals and existing customers. Grobler highlights that Wuhlf sells many units to the fertiliser industry, which is a very corrosive environment for electronics.

The company’s market share, he says, has increased significantly in

the agriculture sector, owing to its exceptional after-sales services.

Wuhlf aims to constantly train its staff to guarantee their skills are up to date to provide the company’s clients with the best possible service in terms of all aspects of its business, highlights Grobler.

The company has equipment operating in Sierra Leon, Zambia, Namibia and Botswana, despite supplying equipment solely from its Pretoria office.
