JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Diversified mining giant Anglo American has appointed David Weston as technical director, succeeding Tony Redman, who had retired.
Weston would take up his new role with immediate effect and would continue as a member of Anglo American’s executive committee, the group said on Tuesday.
He has been CE of Anglo Industrial Minerals since 2006, where he has led Tarmac through a period of considerable restructuring, making the business more efficient and focusing it on cash generation.
Tarmac CFO Karim Hajjar has been appointed as Tarmac MD and would take the responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the business and its restructuring, which would continue as planned.
Karim would report to Anglo American chief strategy officer Russell King, who would represent Tarmac at the executive committee.
