JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Diamond company BlueRock Diamonds has appointed Adam Waugh as CEO, succeeding director Riaan Visser, who was appointed CEO of the group’s sole operating subsidiary, Kareevlei Mining.

Waugh, who was appointed senior independent nonexecutive director in December, was selected as part of BlueRock’s March strategic review of an enlarged business and subsequent strengthening of management and would be responsible for overseeing the ongoing strategic review and its implementation.

Visser would retain responsibility for finance matters and continue his focus on the operation of the Kareevlei mine, in the Northern Cape.

“We recognise that, as we continue to grow, we need to assess continuously our management needs. BlueRock is many times larger than it was when we listed and these management changes allow Riaan to concentrate on ensuring the smooth operation of the mine while Adam concentrates on delivering value to shareholders,” said BlueRock chairperson Paul Beck.

Further, BlueRock was in the process of identifying an experienced mine manager to add to the existing team.
