TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Canadian gold junior Verena Minerals has contracted Scott Wilson Roscoe Postle & Associates to begin a scoping study on the firm's flagship Volta Grande gold deposit, in Brazil's Para state.

The study, which will begin immediately, is aimed at determining the economics of mining the Volta Grande deposits.

The project contains indicated resources of 725 000 oz at 1,08 g/t, and 1,5-million ounces, at 0,94 g/t, in the inferred category, at a 0,5 g/t cutoff.

TSX Venture Exchange-listed Verena is also exploring for gold on other properties in Brazil, one of which has been optioned to Toronto-based Kinross Gold, as well as exploring for diamonds.

Shares in the company gained 6,25% on Wednesday, to C$0,085 apiece by 11:45 in Toronto.
