TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Mining companies listed on the TSX raised C$17-billion in equity financings during the first nine months of the year, already surpassing the previous full-year records, the exchange said on Wednesday.

The cash was raised in 264 financings, 60 of which were larger than C$50-million each, led by gold-miner Barrick Gold's huge C$4,3-billion share offering.

As of September 30, there had been 59 new mining listings across the TSX and the TSX Venture Exchange.

The two exchanges are home to 55% of the world's public mining companies and, as of September 30, there were 123 international mining companies listed on the TSX and TSX Venture Exchange, more than any other exchange group in the world, according exchange operator TMX group.

Representatives from the group are currently visiting Perth, in Australia, to promote the two exchanges to mining companies that may be considering a listing.
