Trade fair company Messe München International is bringing its international trade show bauma to South Africa for the first time in September 2013.
The first international trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines and construction vehicles will be organised through a subsidiary to be set up by Messe München.

The company is building on its portfolio of international trade shows that include its flagship bauma in Munich, bauma China and bauma Conexpo (bC) India.

Messe München expects the first bauma Africa, which primarily targets customers from sub- Saharan Africa, to attract about 200 exhibitors and comprise about 20 000 m2 of exhibition space.

“The feedback from the industry regarding such a sector event has been positive. South Africa is a market with a future which offers great potential for the construction machinery industry,” says Messe München MD Eugen Egetenmeir.

The US-based Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), a partner for bC India, will be an official supporter of the first bauma Africa. Part of AEM’s strategy is to cooperate globally to drive the best of class in trade shows on a regional basis for customers, the company says.

AEM has strengthened its efforts and has a global trade show memorandum of understanding for continued coopera- tion and part of that is a possible joint venture with Messe München in Africa, says AEM president Dennis Slater.
