Tiger on track to meet Q2 targets
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Copper miner Tiger Resources was on track to produce its first copper cathode product from Stage 2 of the Kipoi project, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, by the second quarter of this year.
The miner said on Wednesday that it had successfully completed the heap leach commissioning from the agglomerator to the stacker of the Stage 2 solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX-EW) processing plant, adding that the plant was operating as expected.
Copper-rich pregnant solution has been generated since December 21 and the pregnant solution would now be sent to the solvent-extraction circuit once this has been completed.
About 25 000 t of copper cathode would be produced in the first 12 months of operation of the SX-EW plant, with production set to increase to 50 000 t over the following 12 months.
Tiger was currently producing copper in concentrate from a heavy media separation plant at Kipoi, with the aim of producing some 132 000 t of copper in concentrate over the 42-month life of Stage 1.
