Company Announcement - Julian Ford, formerly Executive Vice President for Proximity Detection and Collision Avoidance, has now been named President and General Manager of Strata’s South African operations.
Prior to joining Strata, Julian was the head of engineering for Anglo American Coal South Africa. He brings over 20 years of experience in deep-level hard rock and coal mining engineering to Strata, including the management of numerous large mining projects and underground production capacities of 12.8 million tons of coal annually. During his time with Anglo, he rose from an apprentice electrician to junior engineer, and later became head of engineering, providing project and specialized technical support to all surface and underground operations within South Africa.
At Strata, Ford will oversee all business operations in South Africa and neighboring countries, and will focus heavily on the direction and growth of Strata’s proximity detection and collision avoidance technologies. He will work closely with Strata President and CEO Mike Berube to further develop strategies that will increase global market penetration.
“With Julian’s extensive operational and engineering background in South African coal and gold mining, we believe he is the right person to take Strata to the next level as we look to increase our customer service, support and technology platforms,” stated Mike Berube, President and CEO of Strata Worldwide. “I look forward to working with him as a key member of Strata’s management team.”
