Electra Mining Africa and co-located shows Elenex Africa, the exciting new Powerex show and the Transport Expo will be taking place from 12-16 September at the Expo Centre in Johannesburg. It’s an informative 4-in-1 show experience. On view will be a vast array of products, services and technologies from the over 850 leading local exhibitors and international exhibitors.

In addition to the unveiling of new products, visitors will also have the opportunity to watch live product demonstrations, enter lucky draws and competitions, engage with technical experts and participate in the daily free-to-attend seminars. 

“Over 850 local and international exhibitors will be showcasing latest products, technologies and services at this year’s Electra Mining Africa,” says Gary Corin, Managing Director of Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, organisers of the show.

“Live demonstrations will be playing a key role as visitors will be able to see equipment and machinery in action whilst interacting with technical experts on the stands. It’s a highly informative environment. Exhibitors have also added elements of fun with onsite entertainment, hospitality and lucky draws with some great prizes.”

The new Verlinde budget beater, the Eurobloc VM, will make its first appearance on African soil at Electra Mining Africa. Designed specifically for a crane kit, it is suitable for high performance in difficult environments. A French trapeze artist will add to the entertainment on the Verlinde Cranes and Hoists stand.

Festo will have an extensive range of pneumatic and process automation products and solutions on offer at Electra Mining Africa as well some of their latest training equipment. Their most impressive offering will undoubtedly be their famous AirPenguin. Spanning over 3.7m long, visitors will not want to miss this impressive invention.

Former Proteas cricket player and Hansa-Flex business developer Fanie de Villiers will be on the Hansa-Flex stand everyday between 10-11 am. Hansa-Flex, one of Europe’s leading companies in the field of hydraulics, will have samples of fittings and hoses on display, visual presentations and some give-away gifts.

Exhibitor technology presentations

Rapid 3D will be giving a presentation on their stand on Monday 12 September from 15h00 to 15h30. Managing Director, David Sean Bullock, will be presenting on the topic: Will 3D Printing Revolutionise Manufacturing in the Mining Industry?

Daily product seminars and live demonstrations will be taking place on the Reinhausen South Africa stand at Electra Mining Africa. Visitors can experience the world of MR tap changers and accessories which secure a reliable electricity supply. Learn about Transformer Asset Management Solutions, Condition Monitoring, Electrical Testing, Transportation, Installation and Maintenance.

MicroStep South Africa will be giving a live demonstration for Laser welding Equipment on Wednesday 14 September at 11h00. Also on the stand will be Alphalaser GmbH who develop and manufacture laser devices as a complete solution for applications in material processing.

Live demonstrations and lucky draws

ACS-Embrace will showcase the newly released version of the Embrace ERP business software and demonstrate how clients can access their data in real-time.  Competitions will also be running throughout the day with visitors’ visual and calculation skills put to the test. Prizes will be awarded daily and the overall winner announced on the Friday.

Siemens Digital Factory and Process Industries and Drives will show its Integrated Drive systems (IDS), as well as gear units and couplings, motors, drives and condition monitoring services. Visitors will be able to enter the lucky draw and stand a chance to win some great prizes whilst viewing their latest innovative technologies to help support mining business.

Kinetic Electronic Designs will be launching their upgraded Yellow Activity Monitoring System for earthworks plants. Visitors also stand a chance to win a complete monitoring system by filling in a competition slip or leaving a business card.

Afromix will be displaying working peristaltic pumps and agitators in action showing the flow, solid suspension on the company’s stand. Banding & Identification Solutions Africa will display and demonstrate the UL4000-C Ultra-Lok application tool, which is ideal for hose clamping, and has been designed to replace band and buckle systems in high volume applications. And SureGO will showcase a model of their flexible walkway bridge and visitors can walk on the bridge and take a closer look at the intricacies of this unique invention.

Latest generation technology

Visitors to Electra Mining Africa will be able to see Booyco Electronics' fully integrated Proximity Detection System (PDS) in action. This PDS represents the latest generation technology offering a supply of reliable information facilitating the safety intervention capability with a data hub that enables integration with TMM OEM’s vehicles and equipment. It transfers information between users via Booyco Electronics’ Human Machine Interface.

The Hytec Group of Companies will display The “Gearbox Eliminator” from Hägglunds as well as gear pumps and motors, load sensing valves and manual control valves from Salami. In addition, there will be a test rig of Hy-Pro’s coalescing/separator capable of removing water and dirt from diesel.

Kal Tire is demonstrating its latest innovation in tyre services - a gravity assist system, which improves efficiency and reduces fatigue and strains common when mounting earthmover tyres. Macsteel Service Centres SA will have various live demonstrations, displays and promotions on its product range throughout the show. Part Solutions Interactive will be running a live demonstration of condition monitoring on screw compressors with early warning system. Whilst PTS Welding & Industrial Supplies will be demonstrating the Z-Rid 0Volts Remote Isolation Welding Device and Ibeda Flashback Arrestors.

Precrete Holdings will have live demonstrations of its latest innovations every day, including the Grout Efficiency Tester (GET system) and Blasting Control Device (BCD) to improve mine safety, and lower costs. Rimex SA will have daily live demonstrations of Tyresense - its tyre monitoring system. Also, SpiderWebb will showcase its advanced safety harnesses for the mining and construction industry and inviting visitors to fit a harness at their stand and enter their business card lucky draw.

More competitions, discounts

RS Components, global distributor of the smallest computer in the world, will be showcasing the ‘Pi-Top’ – the official laptop designed to incorporate a Raspberry Pi. On display will be the Pi-Top and other Raspberry Pi products. RS Components will be giving away prizes such as an RS Pro 88-piece Toolkit, a Raspberry Pi laptop and an Arduino Starter Kit.

Sinvac Mining & Engineering and Sinvac Piping will be showcasing and demonstrating a customised pre-fabricated HDPE Piping System with fittings.  Visitors to the stand qualify for discounts on orders placed for HDPE Piping Systems and a lucky draw will also be held.

RJ Connect will be giving away a rugged tablet to one lucky visitor at Electra Mining Africa through their business card draw. BEKA Schréder will be offering visitors the opportunity to win a tablet, mobile fridge or gift hamper by taking part in their ‘selfie’ competition and business card lucky draw. Engen Petroleum will be having daily lucky draws on their stand for Woolworths’ vouchers and at the end of the week all entries stand a chance of winning an iPod mini and iPod Nano.

Visitors can drop off their business card at the Hellermann Tyton stand for an entry into the daily lucky draw competition and be automatically entered into the grand prize draw to win a Nespresso Coffee Maker on Friday. Whilst visitors to the Toprope's stand can take a ticket to win a selection of outstanding Cape wines in their lucky draw.

Free-to-attend seminars

For the first time ever, Electra Mining Africa will offer daily free-to-attend seminars.  These will be held in association with South African Institute of Mechanical Engineers (SAIMechE).
