TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Vancouver-based Scorpio Mining has completed repairs to a mill at its Nuestra Señora facility in Mexico and resumed full milling operations, the firm reported on Monday.
Repairs to ball mill A were completed and the unit was brought back on line on July 8, one week ahead of plan.
Scorpio announced on July 2 that the ball mill would be shut down, limiting processing throughput to ball mill B at the facility, because of a crack in the ball mill A trunnion.
Since restarting the mill, throughput has been slowly increased to make sure that everything is running smoothly.
The processing facility should achieve its budgeted throughput this month and third-quarter production is still expected to be 90 000 t, Scorpio said.
The Nuestra Señora silver/zinc/lead/copper mine in Sinaloa state, Mexico, achieved full commercial production in January 2009.
