JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Russian diamond mining group Alrosa has appointed former Sberbank VP Evgeny Agureev as director of its sales division.

Agureev is succeeding Yury Okoemov, who acted as director of the United Selling Organisation of Alrosa (USO).

As director of USO, Agureev would seek to develop rough diamond sales, increase the division’s efficiency and transparency and to strengthen ties with long-term clients, Alrosa said in a statement on Wednesday.

Among his tasks would also be signing contracts with large rough diamond consumers for the 2018 to 2020 period.

Agureev has more than 15 years’ experience in financial management in commercial banks. From 2009 to 2017, he held different positions in Sberbank. Prior to that, he worked in Russian Standard Bank, MDM Bank, Raiffeisen Bank Austria, Absolut Bank, and Renaissance Credit Bank.
