Safety equipment manufacturer SpiderWebb has enhanced its portfolio by offering value-added services, such as training and risk assessments, to strengthen its businesses during turbulent times.

The Gauteng-based company, which will exhibit at Electra Mining Africa, has partnered with RecOcel, a height safety training facility, and has negotiated preferential rates for its clients.

“We offer from basic, nonaccredited training to fully accredited advanced height safety and rescue training,” explains GM Lizelle Ferreira.

The firm also conducts risk assessments and draws up fall arrest and rescue plans for its clients.

The company, which operates out of Sebenza, east of Johannesburg, designs and manufactures equipment for the prevention of falls, rescue equipment and equipment for working in confined spaces.

Ferreira says SpiderWebb prides itself on its ability to innovate. “Many of our designs have been used all over the world by our competitors. We are the only manufacturer in the world to have conducted a full clinical trial on our product to ensure the safety of our clients.”

Ferreira says orders from its mining clients are smaller than a few years ago, but that the company is looking beyond mining and is expanding its footprint in the construction and cleaning industries.

SpiderWebb is also stepping up its marketing efforts in Africa, with its products already being exported to Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
