SA gold sector wage conciliation process continues
RUSTENBURG – The conciliation process between South African gold producers and trade unions continues on Friday, the Chamber of Mines said.
Dr Elize Strydom for the Chamber of Mines said trade unions Solidarity and Uasa have indicated their intention to accept the offer.
“Wage negotiations are continuing in a respectful way. We have come a very long way during this process. Both Uasa and Solidarity have indicated their intention to accept the offer pending final consideration. The companies expect further feedback from Amcu and the National Union of Mineworkers,” she said.
“Concluding this agreement will make a significant difference in the lives of employees while ensuring the sustainability of the industry as far as possible and would demonstrate to our country and indeed the world that all stakeholders believe in the future of this industry and in the future of those dependent on it for their livelihoods.”
AngloGold Ashanti, Evander, Harmony and Sibanye Gold represented by the Chamber of Mines were talking to unions the Association of Mining and Construction Union, the National Union of Mineworkers, Solidarity and Uasa.
