VANCOUVER (miningweekly.com) – Canadian precious metals junior Rye Patch Gold has secured financing to buy four more haul trucks for its Florida Canyon mine, in Nevada.

The Vancouver-based company announced on Friday that it would add four Caterpillar 785C haul trucks for a total of $3.67-million, growing the Florida Canyon truck fleet to 15.

"This purchase will enable the company to increase production by taking advantage of excess capacity at the crusher. The crusher is routinely operating at 20% to 40% over plan requirements and is permitted at 60% over plan at 1 600 t/h, effectively bringing the 2018 expansion forward," commented Rye Patch CEO William Howald.

The equipment will be financed by Caterpillar Finance, consisting of a 20% down payment with the balance repayable in equal instalments over 48 months, bearing yearly interest at 6.95%. A portion of the $10-million equity raised by the company in June will be applied in this purchase.

Rye Patch advised that the trucks were in excellent condition, with full service histories and an average of 30 000 hours on each. Expected delivery will be early in the fourth quarter.

Rye Patch has reported above-plan output for the June quarter, as it continues to ramp up production from its new leach pad at the refurbished Florida Canyon mine.

Since its completion in April, the new pad has completed its first full cycle of leaching of 45 days. Secondary leaching and the new placement of ore is continuing on the Phase 1A portion of the pad.

Since April, Rye Patch has poured 12 678 oz of gold and silver doré, comprising 7 075 oz of gold and 5 603 oz of silver. The better-than-expected gold production is a result of more tons being placed on the leach pad between January and March.
