JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Royal Bafokeng Resources would now be allowed to increase its shareholding in the Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine (BRPM) to 67%, following an unconditional approval of the transaction by the Competition Tribunal.

It would acquire an additional 17% share in the Rustenburg Platinum Mines, which was owned by platinum major Anglo Platinum.

On completion of the transaction Royal Bafokeng Resources and Rustenburg Platinum Mines would still have joint control by virtue of the minority protection rights in favour of Rustenburg Platinum Mines granted and retained in terms of the shareholder agreement.
