Welcome to Creamer Media’s Resources Watch, a weekly video round-up of the events and people making and shaping the news in the mining industry.

This week:
AngloGold Ashanti’s new mechanisation achieves more success.
Sibanye Gold says the Defence Force is needed to quell the ‘huge’ illegal mining threat.
And, drill provider Schwalbe aims to highlight its own brand.

The demonstrably successful new AngloGold Ashanti gold-mining technology has produced 40 kg of gold from ore with enormously valuable gold grades of more than 200 g of gold for every ton mined.

AngloGold executive VP South Africa region Mike O’Hare

Sibanye Gold CEO Neal Froneman said illegal gold mining had reached such a scale that it would not be inappropriate to bring in the South African National Defence Force to quell the scourge.

Local drill equipment provider Schwalbe will place greater emphasis on promoting its self-manufactured Orange rock-tool equipment range and will introduce new products to the Botswana mining industry to meet clients’ growing demand.
