PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Resolute Mining has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ASX-listed Enerji to investigate the potential for operational cost savings at the Syama mine, in Mali, through the capture and conversion of waste heat.

The MoU outlined the terms of a cooperative working relationship to develop one or more of Enerji’s accretive thermal energy node (Aten) solutions at the Syama mine.

The Aten system makes use of an industry-leading organic rankine cycle system that provides the ability to harvest low-grade heat to produce electricity through a capture and conversion process that produces zero emissions.

Resolute MD and CEO John Welborn said that this potential cost saving innovation was part of the company’s ongoing focus on efficiency and environmental responsibility.

“The sulphide process plant at Syama includes a roaster which produces significant thermal signature, creating an opportunity for Enerji to adapt its technology.”

The Syama mine delivered 45 462 oz of gold during the quarter ended December.
