High-density polyethylene (HDPE) piping fabricator, supplier and installation specialist RamPiping Systems has expanded its focus to include piping solutions from US-based supplier NOV Fiber Glass Systems (NOV FGS).

Since being established in 2006, RamPiping’s main focus has been on HDPE, but, through its partnership with NOV FGS, it now aims to deliver composite solutions across industries and continents.

Alrode, Gauteng-based RamPiping is the sole South African agent for NOV FGS, which manufactures composite pipe and fittings, engineered for efficiency and performance.

“The lightweight, corrosion-resistant design is easy to install and maintenance free, lowering installation and operational costs. And with a proven history of longevity – original installation can successfully operate for more than five decades – NOV FGS’s economic advantage endures. Offering value and innovation, NOV FGS solves the inherent problems associated with using traditional piping materials for tough applications and harsh environments,” highlights RamPiping.

With NOV FGS having 15 manufacturing facilities spanning four continents and a distribution network covering 40 countries, RamPiping can now provide worldwide service for the oil and gas, chemicals, marine, offshore, fuel handling and mining industries.

Three major piping solution systems – HDPE, carbon steel and fibre-glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) – can be supplied as a turnkey solution to engineers and contractors. The company has extensive experience in designing, engineering, manufacturing, fabricating and installing piping systems for aggressive chemicals, abrasive slurries, extreme temperatures and high pressure, as well as milder applications. “GRE is a nonmetalic pipe that outperforms plastic-lined steel pipe in the toughest chemical applications and, owing to the warranty and guarantee supplied by NOV FGS, only RamPiping can install the GRE piping solution in Southern Africa,” boasts the company.

GRE piping is suitable for industries with abrasive services, such as slurry lines, activated carbon pulp, tailings and concrete slurries; process services for acids, barren leach solutions, raffinate and flotations; and water services, such as dewatering wastewater, mine cooling, cooling towers and emergency water systems, as well as desalination plants.

RamPimping owner and MD Christo Swanepoel, a qualified auditor, has implemented a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001, ensuring that the standard’s quality objectives are achieved.

Last year, the company was awarded a contract by Senet to supply and install a GRE system for a mining application in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This piping product, Z-Core, can handle 98% sulphuric acid and will replace stainless steel.
