PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Ramelius Resources was hoping to produce up to 23 000 oz during the September quarter from its Western Australian operations.

The miner said on Wednesday that it was hoping to source between 18 000 oz and 19 000 oz of gold from its Mt Magnet operation during the three months to September, and between 3 000 oz and 4 000 oz from the Burbanks mill, as the remaining ore from the now defunct Coogee operation was processed.

During the three months to June, Ramelius produced 25 422 oz of gold, compared with the record 27 653 oz produced in the previous quarter.

The Mt Magnet operation produced 19 215 oz of gold during the quarter under review, while the Burbanks mill operation added the remaining 6 207 oz of gold.

Ramelius reported higher mill throughput at the Mt Magnet operation during the June quarter, despite high-grade stocks from the Western Queen South deposit being depleted during the quarter.

Mining at the Western Queen South pit was completed in the March quarter, and the remaining ore was truck to Mt Magnet during the three months to June. Site clean-up and rehabilitation work was mostly completed during the June quarter.

Milling of Coogee ore also continued during the quarter at the Burbanks mill. Mining at Coogee was also completed in the March quarter, and site clean-up and rehabilitation work was concluded during the quarter under review.

Meanwhile, the gold miner was also advancing plans at its Vivien gold project, which has a mining inventory of 451 000 t, grading 7.6 g/t gold for 109 000 oz of gold.

Ramelius also acquired the Kathleen Valley gold project, in Western Australia, from Xstrata Nickel, a subsidiary of Glencore. The tenements contain a mineral resource of 130 000 oz of gold across three deposits.
