PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold producer Ramelius Resources has exceeded its production expectations for the September quarter by some 13%.

It produced 23 637 oz in the three months to September 30, up from the guidance of between 19 000 oz and 21 000 oz.

The Mt Magnet operation, in Western Australia, contributed 17 869 oz, up from the 15 500 oz projected, while the Kathleen Valley mine produced 5 768 oz, up from the guidance of 4 500 oz.

“Once again, the operations team has delivered what is a flying start to the new financial year,” said Ramelius MD Mark Zeptner.

“The Saturn and Mars openpits are essentially completed and the Perseverance pit is just coming into better grade ore at Mt Magnet. Both the Kathleen Valley and Vivien mines are ahead of schedule, trucking of ore from Kathleen started mid-quarter, and we also have a healthy stockpile at the mine.”

Zeptner said that, from all reports, the Kathleen ore was milling as expected, and Ramelius had seen a boost in both grade and recovery at Mt Magnet’s Checker mill.

“I look forward to getting the first glimpse of the Vivien mine orebody in the December quarter,” he added.
