PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Heavy rains at the Syama operation, in Mali, impacted on gold miner Resolute Mining’s output during the three months to September.

Gold production during the three months under review declined to 67 078 oz, compared with the 81 877 oz delivered in the June quarter, while cash costs for the period increased from A$888/oz to A$955/oz.

Resolute told shareholders on Monday that the Syama mine had delivered only 42 847 oz of gold during the September quarter, compared with the 53 136 oz delivered in the previous quarter, as heavy rains necessitated the treatment of lower-grade stockpiles.

Flotation recoveries at Syama were also reduced, reflecting the weaker crushing performance impacting on grind size and total gold recovery.

Meanwhile, the Australian Ravenswood operation also delivered less gold during the quarter under review, as mining from a lower-grade section of the orebody impacted on production.

Gold production decreased from 28 741 oz in the June quarter, to 24 231 oz in the quarter under review.

Furthermore, no production was sourced from the Golden Pride operation, in Tanzania, where the treatment plant was decommissioned and preparations were well advanced to relinquish the mining licence to the government by December.

Resolute on Monday maintained its full-year production guidance of about 315 000 oz for 2015, at an all-in sustaining cost of A$1 280/oz.
