JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The European benchmark ferrochrome price has increased to $1,36/lb for the second quarter of the year, South African ferrochrome producer Merafe Resources advised on Thursday.
This represented a 35% increase on the price of $1,01/lb in the first quarter of the year.
The benchmark price had stood at $1,03/lb in the fourth quarter of last year and at $0,89/lb in the third quarter of 2009.
Merafe produces ferrochrome in a joint venture with Xstrata in South Africa.
