TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – TSX Venture Exchange-listed Probe Mines has hired Minon International to prepare a 43-101-compliant resource estimate for its Black Creek chromite deposit, in the McFauld's Lake area of northern Ontario.
The Black Creek zone was discovered in 2009 on property owned in joint venture by Probe and Noront Resources, and is located between Cliffs Natural Resources' Black Thor deposit and the Cliffs-Spider Resources-KWG Resources-owned Big Daddy deposit.
The Black Creek zone is currently drilled on a 50-m spacing along a 200-m strike length and to a vertical depth of approximately 200 m, and remains open in all directions.
The report should be completed within six to eight weeks of June 8, Probe said.
“Our McFauld's Lake projects will be a priority for Probe this year and we are fortunate to have Micon working with us on the resource estimate for Black Creek,” Probe president David Palmer said.
“They have considerable experience in both resource estimation and the Ring of Fire chromite deposits and we look forward to their insight and recommendations on Black Creek."
Probe and Noront have a 50:50 joint venture on the property where the Black Creek deposit is located, and Probe is currently the operator.
US-based coal- and iron-ore miner Cliffs acquired its Ring of Fire assets when it beat out Noront Resources late last year to acquire Freewest Resources Canada.
