Pneumatics company makes Electra debut
SMC Pneumatics will display an array of fully functional demo units at Electra Mining Africa
Established in 1959, Tokyo-based SMC Corporation has steadily expanded into international markets with an established footprint in 83 countries and has now also opened its doors in South Africa.
Having officially started local operations earlier this year, pneumatics and industrial automation firm SMC Pneumatics South Africa (SA) will exhibit at this year’s Electra Mining Africa for the first time.
SMC Pneumatics, which has been voted onto Forbes Magazine’s most innovative company list for three consecutive years, will have an array of fully functional demo units on display.
The demo units will showcase the brand’s range of over 12 000 basic product, matched to meet infinitely diverse requirements across almost every industry. Offering service and training nationwide, machine builders and end-users can now benefit from increased levels of technical support and the availability of customised products.
Local production and assemblies of several lines at SMC’s Johannesburg factory will also ensure shorter lead times.
“We are proud to be able to showcase our [high-]quality range at Electra Mining this year. “What really sets us apart is our global culture of listening to, understanding and responding to customers’ needs efficiently,” says SMC Pneumatics SA GM Adrian Buddingh.
“Our team is ready, equipped, willing and able to help you find the correct solution and, with such a large footprint, there is no problem that we cannot solve.”
SMC Pneumatics launched its South African head office in Midrand on April 21, thereby enhancing its ability to service global markets. The South African office will serve to grow the company’s future prospects of expansion into Africa.
The office boasts a total area of 4 317 m2 and is home to a fully functional, “state- of-the-art” showroom, as well as a warehouse for the local production of select items.
