JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) - Aim-listed diamond producer Petra Diamonds on Friday announce that the 39,19 ct special blue diamond, recently placed on the tender in Johannesburg, has been sold for $8,8-million.

The stone was produced from the Cullinan mine, which it bought from De Beers earlier this year.

“Blue is one of the most rare colours of diamond and this exceptional stone is even more special owing to its unusually large size. Diamond of this nature are true collector’s items owing to their incredible beauty and scarcity,” said Petra CEO Johan Dippenaar.
