TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Vancouver-based Petaquilla Minerals has begun the 'wet' commissioning of the gold production facility at its Molejon project, in Panama.

The ball mills and other critical equipment are undergoing testing ahead of the first gold pour, which is scheduled for the second half of December, Petaquilla said in a statement on Friday.

The electromechanical operation of the plant will get under way early in the month.

Petquilla Minerals also reported that it had received approval for its environmental impact study.

The Molejon mine is expected to produce 100 000 oz of gold during its first year of production.
