HAILEYBURY (miningweekly.com) – Vancouver-based Petaquilla Minerals has appointed Joao Manuel to the position of COO.

Manuel was previously CFO at Petaquilla Copper, which was acquired by Canadian miner Inmet Mining in September.

He will be responsible for the management of Petaquilla Minerals' Molejon gold mine, in Panama, as well as several large mineral concessions that it owns surrounding the mine.

“The company is delighted that Mr. Manuel has decided to join the company as his experience in corporate development and business management will be an enormous benefit to the successful operations of the company,” Petaquilla Minerals said in a statement.

Petaquilla is in the process of commissioning the Molejon mine.
