TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Explorer Peregrine Diamonds has discovered six new kimberlites at its Chidliak project, on Baffin Island, in Nunavut, bringing the total discovered to date to 38.
Three of the new kimberlites, CH-33, CH-35 and CH-36, were discovered at surface by prospecting, and the other three, CH-34, CH-37 and CH-38, were discovered by core drilling.
Samples from new kimberlite discoveries are being sent to the Saskatchewan Research Council for diamond analysis by caustic fusion, Peregrine said.
The world's biggest miner, BHP Billiton, is exercising an earn-in right on the Chidliak project by spending $22,3-million on exploration for a 51% stake.
