JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed midtier diamond producer Pangea DiamondFields on Wednesday reported that its current operations manager for its Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and South African projects, Boris Richard Kamstra, would take over as CEO, effective November 1.

Kamstra would replace current CEO Brett Thompson, who will be relocating to Australia.

Kamstra is a civil engineer with extensive operational, project management and management experience.

He joined Pangea in May 2006, as engineering manager and oversaw the design, manufacture and construction of the company’s bulk sampling plants in the Central African Republic, DRC, Angola and South Africa. He was instrumental in pioneering a new supply route from South Africa through Namibia and Angola to establish and service the DRC operations.

Kamstra assumed the role of operations manager with responsibility for the South African and DRC projects as these projects evolved beyond the pure exploration phase.

Pangea said in a statement that Thompson would remain involved on a full-time basis in a consulting role until the end of December, to facilitate a smooth transition of responsibility and thereafter would continue his involvement with the company as a nonexecutive director.
