JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – An employee at ASX- and TSX- listed Paladin Energy’s Kayelekera uranium mine, in Malawi, has died in a vehicle accident, the company reported on Thursday.

A contracted minibus, which was transporting 19 of the mine’s employees, had overturned on a site access road and rolled down an embankment on Wednesday.

The other 18 passengers and the driver were also injured in the accident and were taken to hospitals in Karonga and Mzuzu. Out of the 15 people eventually admitted to hospital, three were believed to be in a serious but stable condition.

The police and other relevant government officials had been informed of the incident and investigations were continuing.
