Outotec and China  (0.06 MB)

Over the past 20 years Outotec and China have experienced many changes, and both are once again at a crossroads where they are facing further change. Today, evolving economies of scale and environmental legislation are driving demand for alternative methods of more efficient technologies and more sustainable processes and driving changes in industry and society as a whole.

Efficient process control and life cycle costs are becoming increasingly important in the mineral and metal processing industry. By making prudent choices today we can ensure the prosperous growth of businesses and societies worldwide, while preserving the planet for future generations. China will continue to explore the opportunities presented by renewable energy and production automation, which will in turn increase opportunities for Outotec.

As the global leader in minerals and metals processing technology, Outotec has developed many breakthrough technologies over the decades. The first deliveries to China, which took place in the 1970s, included copper rod upcast machines, flash smelter technology, anode casting technology, analyzers, and aluminum rodshop equipment. Since then, the technology and the demands of the industry have seen great leaps forward. Today, emissions and energy efficiency drive decision making, and Outotec has developed its offering to meet the evolving demands of its customers in China and around the world.

"Outotec evolved from Outokumpu, Lurgi Metallurgie and a number of other remarkable technology companies. We have been serving the Chinese market for more than 30 years and are proud to have had a local presence for over 20 years," says Thomas Jin, President of Outotec China. "We are able to provide local customers with the best technology available backed by local service support in the local language. The core competence of our company is based on the knowledge of our people. In China we have 150 employees serving our customers."
In addition to its increasing need for sustainable solutions, the mining industry's demand for tailings-treatment solutions and solutions for increasing production capacity has made dewatering more challenging. Outotec's solutions are used in mining and metallurgical operations all over the world, and our proven equipment is continuously developing in terms of both capacity and efficiency in order to meet the needs of the industry. "Tailings treatment and saving water will become more and more important in China. We have an assembly plant in Suzhou China to serve the local and global demand for more efficient dewatering solutions," says Jin.

Outotec also provides innovative solutions for industrial water treatment, the utilization of alternative energy sources, and the chemical industry. We are committed to sustainability across all the industries we serve and aim to develop sustainability in our surrounding communities - including in China. This year Outotec ranked third on the Corporate Knights Global 100 list of the world's most sustainable companies.
