Dual-listed Orion Minerals announced in December that a major SkyTEM airborne electromagnetic survey had started over its flagship Prieska zinc/copper project, in South Africa, as it continued to accelerate its near-mine exploration programme.

The intensification of near-mine exploration activities follows the successful completion of the mineral resource drill-out of the Prieska deep sulphide target, as well as the announcement of an early breakthrough with the recent discovery of a new satellite volcanogenic massive sulphide discovery at the Ayoba prospect.

Denmark-headquartered SkyTEM was contracted to fly the 822 km line TEM survey covering all the company’s prospecting permits in the immediate Prieska project area.

The survey began on December 1.
