JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Northam Platinum chairperson Lazarus Zim retired on Tuesday, with immediate effect.

Serving from April 2007, Zim is being succeeded by Brian Mosehla, who has been a nonexecutive director since 2015.

Mosehla is a member of the Northam investment committee and will replace Zim as a member of the nomination committee. He is also CEO of Mosomo Investment Holdings, chairperson of Zambezi Platinum, as well as a director of Malundi Resources and Coal of Africa Limited (CoAL).

“Zim will be remembered for the empowerment transaction with Zambezi Platinum, which secured Northam’s historically disadvantaged South Africans’ equity status, serving as the catalyst for the company to launch its growth ambitions,” said Northam CEO Paul Dunne.

Meanwhile, the miner has appointed David Brown and Dr Yoza Jekwa independent nonexecutive directors. Brown is the CEO of CoAL and is a director of the Vodacom group.

Brown will also serve as a member of the audit and risk committee, and chairperson of the investment committee.

Jekwa has extensive experience in South African corporate banking and has held a number of positions in the medical field in South Africa and the UK. She will serve on the social, ethics and human resources committee.
