Polysius and ThyssenKrupp Materials Handling, now known as Resource Technologies, a business unit under ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions Africa, will showcase its grinding and crushing technologies for materials handling, minerals processing, cement and lime plants with a model of a semi-mobile crushing plant as well as a working model of a mill at this year’s Electra Mining Africa.

The merger is said to be a natural fit in terms of market focus and product range from crushing to grinding equipment, including high-pressure grinding rolls (HPGR). To meet higher throughput targets on a processing plant, HPGR technology is combined with mills at various stages of the crushing process.

“With a global market share of 44% in primary crushing, we have added our industry-proven range of crushing equipment, fully and semi mobile, to our portfolio. Combined, we can now offer a total solution for the comminution circuit,” reports ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions Africa.

The capabilities of newly formed company Resource Technologies also include materials handling equipment, which allows ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions Africa to offer its clients pit-to-port solutions. This includes equipment such as bucket wheel excavators, stackers, reclaimers, overland conveyors and load-out stations, as well as wagon tipplers, stockyard conveyors and shiploaders.

The company’s innovative laboratory automation solutions and intelligent control systems provide the technology to analyse complex orebodies and minerals as required by today’s ore deposits. These quality control systems and know-how have been offered by the company for more than four decades.

ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions Africa says its focus over the next few years will be on service in the African market, with its service centre in Chloorkop, Gauteng, being the main service hub. ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions is moving service closer to its clients and is establishing offices in Ghana and Mozambique. “We have equipment operating in those countries and the idea was always to support it from a local office,” the firm states.
In line with operation and maintenance, ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions has identified the need for a training facility, which will support its current apprenticeship programme and customer-related training.
