TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Explorer Goldspike Exploration on Friday started trading on the TSX-V under its new name, Nevada Zinc, and new ticker symbol, NZN.

The company has completed a vertical amalgamation between Goldspike and its former subsidiary Nevada Zinc.

“Our new brand better reflects the exciting potential of our flagship, 100%-owned Lone Mountain zinc project, in Nevada, which was recently ranked as one of the world’s top jurisdictions for mining,” president and CEO Bruce Durham said.

He noted that the renamed firm was one of a handful of junior companies that offered investors pure-play exposure to rising zinc prices. “Both the robust outlook for zinc and our early exploration results give us confidence that Lone Mountain will be a focus discovery project in 2015.”

Nevada Zinc was expected to benefit from rising demand for new sources of zinc to supply the automotive, construction, fertiliser, chemical, electronics and advanced battery industries.
