JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Mustang Resources has recovered ten rubies, totalling 2.61 ct, from initial trenching activities at its flagship Montepuez ruby project, in Mozambique.

The trenching programme is being used to delineate targets for a bulk sampling programme and to assist in mapping gravel layers prospective for rubies.

“The recovery of ten rubies from alluvial sources at the Montepuez ruby project is very encouraging and the team is buoyed by this early-stage success. Work is continuing with the trenching and processing of additional pits as we advance towards the commencement of bulk sampling in the third quarter,” says Mustang MD Christiaan Jordaan.

Mustang’s Montepuez ruby project comprises three licences covering 15 800 ha within the Montepuez Complex. It is adjacent to Aim-listed Gemfields’ 75%-owned Montepuez ruby mine.
