MSA Africa safety products underscore total solutions approach
Global safety solutions manufacturer and distributor MSA Africa will use Electra Mining Africa as a platform to display a range of new products and technologies as part of its total solutions approach.
The company will focus on innovative technology at this year’s show, comments product marketing manager Suraksha Mohun.
“Our whole approach is based on being a holistic solutions provider, as opposed to being perceived as a traditional supplier of standalone products. “We want to showcase how the company has grown and evolved in being able to meet all the requirements of our diverse customer base,” Mohun explains.
An example of the latest developments from MSA Africa is the integration of its new thermal imaging camera (TIC) technology into the G1 self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) control module. Thereby, every firefighter can now have TIC on hand, which represents a significant boost in terms of personnel safety.
Other new products include the MSA AirXpress 2 Fire, a highly economic SCBA with customisable configurations for a range of first-responder applications. A standout feature is the adjustable flow rate on the demand valve, which not only allows for comfortable breathing, but also for efficient air consumption.
As part of its total solutions approach, MSA Africa will also display the latest products and technology from its newest acquisition, Latchways of the UK, a specialist in the design and manufacture of horizontal lifelines and vertical fall arrest systems.
“Another innovation that we will feature at Electra Mining Africa is our latest bluetooth technology, which allows for gas-detection equipment to be monitored via a smartphone, for example,” Mohun adds.
She states that the exhibition is an invaluable platform for MSA Africa to introduce the latest technology to the mining industry, where health and safety is of paramount importance.
