Tell us about your company’s products & services?
MSA Africa will use Electra Mining Africa 2016 as a platform to display a range of new products and technologies as part of its total solutions approach.

An example of the latest developments from MSA Africa is the integration of its new thermal imaging camera (TIC) technology into the G1 self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) control module. What this effectively means is that every firefighter can now have TIC on hand, which represents a significant boost in terms of personnel safety.

Other new products include the MSA AirXpress 2 Fire, a highly economic SCBA with customisable configurations for a range of first-responder applications. A stand-out feature is the adjustable flow rate on the demand valve, which not only allows for comfortable breathing but also efficient air consumption.

As part of its total solutions approach, MSA Africa will also display the latest products and technology from its newest acquisition, Latchways of the UK, a specialist in the design and manufacture of horizontal lifelines and vertical fall arrest systems.

Another innovation on display will be the Altair 5X multi-gas portable detector with the latest Bluetooth technology, which allows for gas-detection equipment to be monitored remotely via a smartphone, for example.

What makes the product unique?
The integration of TIC technology into the G1 SCBA control module effectively means that every firefighter can now have TIC on hand, which represents a significant boost in terms of personnel safety.

A feature that sets MSA Africa apart from all other competitors in terms of portable gas-detection instruments is the MSA Altair 4X mining instrument, the only portable mining gas detector instrument that carries the SABS mark of approval for use in South African underground mines. This instrument features robust technology that enables it to operate successfully in harsh and even wet environments.
