Mike da Costa was appointed CEO of Murray & Robert’s (M&R’s) global underground mining platform, effective August 1, mining contracting company M&R Cementation reported on Monday.

The M&R underground mining platform covers six continents and its service offering spans the project value chain including specialist engineering, shaft construction, mine development, specialist mining services, including raise boring and grouting, and contract mining.

Da Costa joined M&R from Lonmin, where he fulfilled the role of executive VP for the group technical services.

He succeeds the previous mining platform CEO, who retired at the end of July after a structured handover process.

Trevor Naidoo, meanwhile, has succeeded David Meyer as CFO of the underground mining platform.

Naidoo, formerly the finance director of Aveng Mining, is a chartered account and a chartered management accountant.
