The Limpopo Minerals Conference  (0.02 MB)

Company Announcement - Mining, farming and tourism are core to the long term sustainable economic and social development of Limpopo. The Limpopo Minerals Conference and Trade Show from the 10 – 12 November is showcasing presentations by a variety of stakeholders who recognise the environmental and social challenges in the region and the importance of integrated planning. The biodiversity and rich landscapes are valuable to tourism.  Farming and mining as well as a rapid growth of the population and expansion of townships create a significant tension as they all compete for space in this landscape.  All of these are essential to the Province’s sustainable development and economic growth.

As a result of intensive negotiations with the major role players, the mining industry is recognising the importance of mine site rehabilitation and is moving away from the exploitive short term benefits to more sustainable long-term benefits for a broader set of stakeholders. This team effort is now beginning to spawn workable plans for conservation, restoration and rehabilitation.
