Millennium reports maiden resource at Bartons underground
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Millennium Minerals has reported a maiden underground resource of 475 000 t, grading 5.3 g/t gold for 80 400 oz of contained gold at the Bartons deposit, below the existing Bartons pit at the Nullagine gold project, in Western Australia.
Millennium CEO Peter Cash said on Monday that the Phase 1 resource provided a strong foundation for the company’s plans to develop its first underground mining operation at Nullagine.
“This is a very pleasing result, providing the basis for what we believe will rapidly progress as a high-quality, long-life underground mining operation at Nullagine.
“The latest high-grade drilling results from Bartons, including a 41-m intercept grading 6 g/t gold, provide immediate potential for resource upside, with a new geological interpretation of the south-western end of the deposit also providing a key target for upcoming drilling.”
Cash said that Bartons was the first underground opportunity that Millennium had targeted as part of the Nullagine expansion study, with the Phase 1 resource estimate providing a strong base from which to grow gold resource inventory and mine life.
