MICROMINE Russia has held their first training course at the UMMC Technical University (UMMC TU) in Ekaterinburg. The training, which ran from February 27th to March 3rd, was focused on teaching students and faculty about open pit planning and mining operations support using MICROMINE’s Pitram and Micromine solutions.

MICROMINE Regional Manager, Boris Kurtsev commented “UMMC TU students will be able to take their real-world learnings into the field and assist with developing the mining and geological industry in Russia.” UMMC TU opened in 2013 and received a licence for conducting technical training and providing government accreditation in 2016. Over 10,000 students and faculty underwent training at the university in 2016, making it one of the largest training facilities in the region. UMMC TU is the only private engineering university in Russia that provides training in metallurgy, mining and power engineering.

In late 2016, MICROMINE and UMMC TU reached an agreement that will see MICROMINE’s software integrated into the university’s education program. Training courses using MICROMINE’s leading fleet management and mine control solution, Pitram, and their exploration and 3D mine design solution, Micromine, will be held throughout 2017 with the aim to build students’ and faculty’s skills in industry standard software.

Kurtsev commented “We are excited to work with UMMC TU to provide faculty and students with a better understanding of mine planning and operational software.”
