Metallon lifts Q3 output by 18% q/q
JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Zimbabwean mining company Metallon Corporation’s mines produced 26 622 oz of gold for the third quarter ended September 30, an 18% quarter-on-quarter improvement.
The higher production was the result of performance improvements at the company’s How, Mazowe and Redwing mines.
All-in-sustaining costs (AISC) were $960/oz, an improvement of 1% when compared with the second quarter of 2016.
Major repair and renewal work at the Shamva mine, as well as expenditure on group expansion projects, which will significantly increase future gold production, had negatively impacted the AISC.
Metallon is expecting to produce 102 000 oz of gold for the full year owing to delays in the construction of the new processing plant at Mazowe mine and ramp up at the Redwing mine.
“Metallon is now commissioning the new processing plant at Mazowe in the last quarter of this year and will be focused on improving production at Shamva and Redwing mines. Future expansion plans are now under way across the group, which will deliver increased growth in 2017 and beyond,” says CEO Ken Mekani.
