Live demonstrations and interactive displays at Electra Mining Africa

Over 850 exhibiters will be showcasing their products and services at Electra Mining Africa 2014. Taking place from 15-19 September at the Expo Centre, Nasrec in Johannesburg, the exhibition offers an opportunity to view the latest technology, new product launches, live demonstrations and interactive displays. “Many of our exhibitors will be launching their latest products at the show,” says Gary Corin, Managing Director of Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, organisers of the show, “and there will be live demonstrations, interactive product displays, simulation booths and technical presentations.”

Visitors to the Multotec Group stand will be able to view scale working and static models as well as cutaway exhibits of Multotec’s equipment. In addition, real time data from condition monitoring and other measuring activities will be available.

Rand Technical Services will showcase the RTS Spin Filter technology. Spin filter units are a high-efficiency application of cyclone technology, which has important benefits when it comes to ensuring a cleaner environment. It also offers long-term cost-saving benefits because it requires little or no maintenance.Energy and Densification Systems will be on show with daily demonstrations of the EDS Multishaft Mill with its energy-saving technology and up to 75% improved efficiency over other mills. Creating speherical particles for improved recovery and liberation of materials, this compact, vertical mill offers 4, 6 and 10 shaft models and can be used to process a wide variety of materials. SEW Eurodrive will be launching its new Girth Gear and Maxolution products, their new Energy Saving Consulting service and will also showcase the Movitrac LTP B, an inverter for the mining industry.

FLSmidth’s stand will feature a fully operational pilot Reflux Classifier unit. This innovative technology is fast becoming a preferred technology by major producers of metallurgical coal. “We’re excited to offer visitors a first-hand view of this technology in action,” says Terence Osborn, FLSmidth’s capital sales & marketing manager – minerals. “Reflux Classification technology is currently a big focus for us, as we believe it has the potential to revolutionise fine mineral beneficiation in the African mining and minerals processing industries.” Visitors to the Joest stand will be able to watch a heavy media separation pilot plant in action, showcasing the performance of the company’s vibrating screens and feeders. The company will also launch its new motor range and display its new, in-house developed and manufactured exciter gearbox, boasting the lowest noise levels in the industry.

Manitou Southern Africa will launch the world’s largest telehandler to the mining industry. “With a maximum lift capacity of 40 tons, the Manitou MHT 14350S will be the world’s largest telehandler available on the market,” says Lindsay Shankland, Managing Director, Manitou Southern Africa. The model features advanced usability improvements with a 7.2 litre Mercedes-Benz engine and caters for the growing heavy-industrial market and for the handling of conveyor belt reels, tyre assemblies and wheel motors in the mining sector. Manitou will also launch three new flameproof mining machines. The Eazi Group of Companies will be launching the newRS Telehandler range at the show. Capable of lifting 3.6 tons and a lift height of 14 metres, the machine is aimed at plant rental companies looking for a more rudimentary telehandler with a lower entry level price while not compromising on quality and safety features.

Pacific Mining will be showcasing the Hanjin Water Hammer at Electra Mining Africa. “Hanjin’s Water Hammer has deep-hole drilling capabilities, a new drilling method with a penetration rate of over 15 times greater than conventional rotary-wash drilling, reducing drilling costs by more than 30% to 50%,” says Eddy Mathe, managing director at Pacific Mining, distributors of Hanjin D&B in Africa. 

ACTOM Air Pollution Control will have the innovative Novus Air Tower on display, which is designed for various applications as well as for welding, grinding and plasma or laser cutting operations. “The Air Tower creates a flow pattern in the work area it serves, so that while clearing the area of dust and fumes it simultaneously circulates clean air throughout the area,” said Des Tuck, Marketing & Sales Engineer for ACTOM Air Pollution Control.
