Kwatani, previously known as Joest Kwatani, is one of the largest OEMs producing custom engineered vibratory equipment solutions for the African mining sector and beyond. The company has Level 3 BBBEE accreditation with 30% black ownership and was first in its class to exceed the mining charter requirements.

Established in 1976 as an assembler of small vibrating equipment, Joest South Africa was purchased by Gunter Vogel in 1989, who successfully integrated local technology into the original German designs boosting efficiencies in the harsh African Mining environment.

In 2015, Joest South Africa entered into a partnership with black-owned consortium Vhatsila Holdings to form Joest Kwatani. In 2016, Joest Kwatani made the final transition to position itself as a company with a proud African history called Kwatani.

Kwatani, a fully independent, privately owned South African OEM, boasts extensive facilities with in-house engineering and testing capabilities, and is recognised for its best practice engineering and manufacturing. Known for its ability to custom engineer fit-for-purpose vibrating equipment to meet specific application requirements, Kwatani has an extensive machine population of vibrating screens and feeders operating across a broad spectrum of commodities and industrial applications.

Individual machines engineered for tonnage throughput can weigh up to as much as 50 tonnes and offer a material throughput capacity of up 7 000 tph of heavy mineral ores. Currently, the largest screens produced are up to 4,3 metres wide or 10 metres long.

Kwatani also offers in-house locally manufactured exciter gearboxes and electromagnetic super feeder drives, unbalanced motors in partnership with one of the world’s leading motor manufacturers in Europe and smaller magnetic drives sourced exclusively from AViTEQ in Germany. The company has sustained the Lockers screen and feeder technology brand, since acquiring it in 2012 and continues to supply the full product range.

Kwatani operates an impressive engineering and manufacturing facility in Kempton Park, Johannesburg covering some
17 000 m2 with engineering, manufacturing and assembly, testing and product development facilities. An extensive
warehouse of spare components ensures lead times are minimised for new built products and spare parts.
