This year’s West African Mining and Power Exhibition in Accra sees long-time exhibitor KSB Pumps and Valves back at the expo for the seventh time! WAMPEX takes place from 28 to 30 May at Accra Convention Centre in Accra, Ghana.
“Our main objective this year is to get access to all the mining companies in West Africa,” says Outare Kokobissi, the area manager for KSB Pumps in Western Africa. “That’s why we come to WAMPEX; the high industry profile of visitors to the show, and most of these with mining as their main focus.” KSB Pumps is based in Accra and specialises in developing the West African market by providing sales, technical and commercial support for pump and valve customers. The company also offers services such as professional tender pre-qualification and negotiations, and technical and commercial order administration.
“Our Mill discharge pumps are performing exceptionally well at Bissa Gold in Burkina Faso,” adds Kokobissi. “These are heavy duty slurry pumps used to feed the cyclone at the mine.” The $250-million Bissa Gold mine, about 100km north of Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou, opened in 2013 and will operate for about 10 years.

KSB South Africa has a modern manufacturing and sales facility in Johannesburg and eight additional sales branches around Cape Town, Durban and Nelspruit. It also has a nationwide network of 120 dealers and accredited service centres that complement the activities of the main and regional offices.
“As a professional service provider, the Fluid Systems division offers turnkey solutions for both mechanical and electrical water and waste water pumping stations, including engineering services to the whole of Africa,” adds Kokobissi.
What To See from KSB at WAMPEX
KSB Pumps will be showcasing a variety of different types of pumps such as; Movitec, Etanorm, and Butterfly Valves KRT. KSB’s Movitec high-pressure pumps now feature enhanced materials, seal variants and connection options. “These pumps are more versatile than before, with optimised hydraulic components, and the high-pressure in-line pump already fulfils the minimum efficiency requirements of the European ErP regulation for 2015. It plays an important role in saving energy at component level,” says Kokobissi.
“The Etanorm standardised water pump provides high reliability, smooth running and excellent suction performance; it uses about 7 000 kWh less energy per year, saving mining companies thousands of euros, with considerable reductions in CO2 emissions.” Etanorm pumps are available in numerous variants and material combinations as a standard, providing an ideally suited Etanorm pump for every application. KSB’s butterfly valves are used on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tanker trucks and LNG terminals. AMRI butterfly valves are available with a large range of electric, pneumatic and hydraulic actuators, gear units and various control accessories.
