KSB Pumps and Valves
East Rand-headquartered KSB Pumps and Valves has been in operation since 1959, manufacturing a range of pumps, valves and related systems for sectors including water, sewerage, chemicals, petrochemicals, steel, mining, energy and building services. Most of the products are manufactured under licence to German and US principals and are especially targeted at the African market.
The company, whose shareholders are KSB Pumps and Compo Physic Trade, with 85% plus one share and 15% plus one share respectively, provides full service solutions for fluid transfer applications, with sales, service and maintenance tailored to individual customers’ requirements.
KSB’s manufacturing and sales facility in Germiston, east of Johannesburg, occupies a 38 383 m2 site, 36 740 m2 of which is under cover. This is complemented by sales and service centres in Cape Town, Durban, Nelspruit, Port Elizabeth, Secunda, Vereeniging, Richards Bay and Rustenburg. Resident offices in Ghana and Kenya, catering for West Africa and East and Central Africa, were established in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
Says a spokesperson for the 500-employee company: “With a focus on the energy sector, KSB Pumps and Valves has established a new valves centre comprising a 540 m2 workshop for the repair of high-pressure steam valves.
“Part of the workshop has been allocated to the pressure- testing area, which consists of two high-pressure test benches where KSB can perform both shell and seat pressure tests on its range of high-pressure steam valves.”
The workshop will also be fitted with a rotating lapping table, an engineering lathe and other machinery to ensure a high-quality repair process.
