PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Allan Kelly has resigned as MD of gold miner Doray Minerals, citing personal reasons.

Kelly, who founded Doray in mid-2009 and managed the company through its initial public offering and listing on the ASX, also oversaw the construction of the Andy Well gold project, in Western Australia, and more recently the successful takeover of Mutiny Gold.

Nonexecutive chairperson Peter Lester said on Friday that in just over seven years, Kelly had taken the company from a concept for a new greenfield mineral explorer with a portfolio of projects in Western Australia and South Australia, to an ASX300 gold producer that had funded and built two new high-grade gold operations within four years.

Kelly will be replaced by nonexecutive director Leigh Junk, who will join the executive management team and perform the duties of MD following a handover period.

Junk has more than 25 years' experience as a mining engineer, and has been with Doray since 2011.
