Kazakhstan has been elected to be the tenth member of the Committee for Mineral Reserves International Reporting Standards (CRIRSCO).
The National Reporting Organisation for Kazakhstan will be the KAZRC Association, which has developed the Kazakhstan Reporting Code, while the Recognised Professional Organisation for Competent Persons preparing Public Reports will be PONEN.

Standards

The KAZRC Association repre- sentatives on CRIRSCO will be Saule Urazayeva and Nikolai Yenshin.

“The CRIRSCO family of reporting standards are used by mining companies, investors and financial institutions on six continents, and Kazakhstan’s adoption of the KAZRC will enable public reporting of Kazakhstan’s exploration results, mineral resources and mineral reserves to be in the format expected to support investors,” explained CRIRSCO chairperson Dr Harry Parker after making the announcement in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Republic of Kazakhstan Investment and Development Minister Asset Issekeshev earlier stated that “the objective of the government is to adopt world best practice in the reporting of exploration results, mineral resources and mineral reserves”.

After the announcement, Issekeshev expressed his pleasure that his country’s efforts had been rewarded by being accepted as the tenth member of CRIRSCO.

Also present were the Committee of Geology and Subsoil Use of the Ministry of Investment and Development chairperson Bazarbay Nurabayev and deputy chairperson Akbatyr Nadyrbayev.
